Desktop operations and a mobile client

The platform was designed for the desktop workstation, where invoices are issued and reports are reviewed. In October we deployed the same product as an installable client on Android and iPhone, under the firm's name, against a single set of records.
Desktop remains the primary workspace
Day-to-day administration runs on a wide display: counterparties, invoices, price list, reports, and account. Tables are sortable. Dates are selected from a calendar. Unsaved invoice lines require confirmation before the operator leaves the record. That is the desktop product.
We did not ship a reduced second application for mobile. The mobile client had to open the same invoice, the same allocation, and the same fleet figures.
Installable client on Android and iPhone
On Android and iPhone the system can be added to the home screen under the firm's name and mark. The install prompt is shown after authentication, so a shared device is not asked to install a system with no active session.
The installed client is the same system. An invoice started on the desktop is present on the mobile device, including company totals and fleet data.
A layout for field use without a second codebase
On a narrow viewport the navigation is a compact panel; the back control dismisses it. Forms and the charge list remain on screen. Hit targets are sized for use in the field.
Wide viewports retain the full menu. Tablets receive the menu control before navigation wraps. One interface, three widths, one set of stored totals.
Dispatch and accounting on a single data set
Dispatch can query an open balance, a vehicle, or a newly issued invoice from a mobile device without returning to the office workstation. Accounting retains the full desktop workspace. Both operate on the same records.
With desktop and mobile access in place, the remaining gap was localisation. Operators of the platform do not work in a single language, so the interface had to support English, German, and Macedonian in full.
